CBD Gummies Buying Guide: Potency, Spectrum, THC & COAs

How to compare CBD gummies by per-serving potency, spectrum, THC content, ingredients, certificates of analysis and cost.

Health & safety: This page is educational, not medical advice. CBD can cause side effects and interact with medications. FDA advises against CBD/THC use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

The five-part comparison framework

Start with five facts: cannabinoid amount per serving, spectrum, THC content, ingredients and a recent batch COA. Then compare price and format. This keeps “strongest,” “premium” and similar marketing language from doing the decision-making for you.

1. Read potency per serving

A front label may emphasize the total milligrams in the whole bottle. Divide by the number of gummies to understand the amount per piece. More is not automatically better, and very high-potency gummies can make small adjustments harder.

2. Understand spectrum

Full-spectrum products contain multiple hemp compounds and may include THC within the product’s legal/label framework. Broad-spectrum products are generally formulated to retain multiple cannabinoids while removing THC, though you should verify the COA. Isolate products center on a single isolated cannabinoid.

3. Open the COA

A certificate of analysis should let you compare the tested cannabinoid profile with the label and review contaminant testing where provided. See our COA guide for a practical checklist.

4. Treat THC exposure as a real decision

“Hemp-derived” does not mean “zero THC.” If you want to avoid THC, look for a THC-free/broad-spectrum or isolate product and confirm the batch report. Product use may also carry drug-testing implications.

5. Keep safety separate from marketing

FDA says CBD can cause side effects and interact with medications. It also advises against use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Product marketing does not override those cautions.
